The transport system is designed for easy travel across the city. This year, a new automated metro line has opened from Sydenham to Chatswood, allowing for even quicker journeys. Trains run every 5 minutes on weekdays and operate late into the evening (until 1:30 AM on weekends). One of the great facts about Australia is that public transport in Sydney is not only efficient but also cost-effective, with a weekly maximum limit of $50. Any trips after that on any form of public transport are free!

Contrary to what many websites and news outlets suggest, you won’t encounter dangerous creatures everywhere. Having lived in Australia for over five years, we have seen very few dangerous spiders or snakes. Of course, they exist, and there’s always a chance to spot them while hiking in the great outdoors, but considering the wide landscapes and the fact that many animals are afraid of humans, you won’t find yourself face-to-face with venomous snakes or spiders every day. Isn’t that a relief?

The sun shines brightly in Australia, and especially during summer, the UV intensity can be quite strong. Therefore, don’t forget to lather on sunscreen and always carry a cap or hat, sunglasses, and water. It can even be warm enough in winter that you risk sunburn, so stay vigilant. If you travel through tropical areas, it’s even more important to apply sunscreen regularly, as you can get sunburned in as little as 10 minutes.
